Operational AI Safeguards and Response

This capstone unit translates prior ethics, legal, and technical concepts into actionable business procedures for managing generative media and deepfake risk. Students will learn to implement safeguards, draft a 90‑day rollout plan, test and refine systems, and establish ongoing governance and incident response for emerging media threats.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze legal, ethical, and reputational risks posed by generative media and deepfakes to a business, citing specific examples and gaps where law may be insufficient
• Apply simple technical, contractual, and policy safeguards to a business scenario to reduce exposure to deepfake liability and demonstrate how those safeguards integrate with existing operations
• Demonstrate a detailed 90-day implementation plan (first 30 days, days 31–60, days 61–90) that includes milestones for policy adoption, system implementation, testing, staff training, and measurable success criteria
• Evaluate future trends in generative media and propose an ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and incident response protocol that includes stakeholder communication and continuous improvement mechanisms
