Strategic Futures and Emerging Technologies

This unit examines the business, ethical, and societal implications of advanced emerging technologies — including artificial intelligence, robotics, longevity science, and planetary-scale systems — and prepares students to convert future scenarios into entrepreneurial opportunities and organizational strategy. Students will assess risks (including national security and workforce impacts) and develop strategic, scalable plans and policy recommendations for resilient, innovation-driven ventures.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze emerging technological trends (AI, robotics, longevity science, climate engineering, and complexity theory) to identify and quantify potential business opportunities, market disruptions, and competitive advantages.
• Evaluate ethical, legal, environmental, and national security implications of deploying advanced technologies and prioritize stakeholder impacts to support responsible decision-making.
• Design strategic business models and implementation plans (e.g., Robots-as-a-Service, AI-enabled products, longevity services) that incorporate forecasting, risk mitigation, scalability, and economic feasibility.
• Create policy, governance, and workforce-transition recommendations that address regulatory compliance, societal risk, talent development, and long-term organizational resilience.
