Ethical Acceleration and Foresight

This unit examines the ethical dimensions of rapid technological change and develops practical skills for shaping trustworthy, human-centered transformation. Students learn tools and methods for asking better questions, leading empathically, and evaluating trade-offs between acceleration, growth, and human well‑being to prepare organizations for proactive foresight.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze how technological acceleration functions as both opportunity and risk by identifying at least three real-world examples and describing associated perverse incentives and human impacts
• Apply the Digital Transformation Canvas 2.0 and the Mining for Meaningful Questions tool to produce a prioritized set of foresight questions and a one-page transformation plan that balances economic goals with human-centered outcomes
• Demonstrate empathetic decision-making and facilitation by leading a simulated team exercise that negotiates trade-offs among trust, surveillance, and productivity and documents agreed actions and rationales
• Evaluate proposed technology initiatives using criteria for trustworthiness, accountability, and meaning-making, and recommend at least three actionable steps to mitigate ethical risks and build trust into design and governance
