Mastering Professional Networking Habits

This unit develops advanced interpersonal and follow-up skills needed to build and sustain professional relationships. Students practice laser listening, recall, organization, goal-setting, and corrective strategies to avoid common networking mistakes and to convert contacts into productive connections.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze personal networking behaviors by reviewing at least six real or simulated interactions and identifying three strengths and three targeted areas for improvement aligned to unit principles
• Apply laser-listening and multi-sensory recall techniques to accurately remember and use names plus two personal details for at least four out of five role-play networking interactions
• Demonstrate organizational and follow-up proficiency by creating a contact-management plan with timeline and action items and executing follow-up within 48 hours for at least five simulated or real contacts
• Evaluate six common networking pitfalls presented in the unit (e.g., overselling, insincerity, monopolizing conversation) and propose one corrective strategy and one measurable success indicator for each
