Foundations of Agile Project Management

This unit introduces the core values, principles, and common practices of Agile project management, comparing them to traditional approaches and explaining why Agile emerged. Students will learn customer-centered thinking, team accountabilities, basic ceremonies (daily scrum, sprint review), adaptive planning, and how to prepare environments and organizations for Agile adoption to set up later hands‑on work.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the Agile Manifesto by identifying its four values and key principles and compare at least three specific differences between Agile and traditional plan-driven project management related to scope, time, and quality
• Apply Lean, Scrum, and Extreme Programming concepts to define team accountabilities and design a basic physical and team environment, then create a one-sprint schedule that includes a daily scrum and a sprint review
• Demonstrate adaptive planning and requirements refinement by producing a prioritized product backlog of at least eight items with relative size estimates and acceptance criteria for two high-priority items
• Evaluate organizational and team readiness for Agile adoption by diagnosing change barriers, specifying multi-team coordination needs, and recommending at least three actionable steps to increase customer satisfaction and shippable increment delivery
