Advanced Operations and Quality Integration

This capstone unit synthesizes supply chain coordination, quality management, process redesign, and technology-enabled operations to prepare students for real-world project implementation. Students will apply metrics-driven analysis, risk mitigation, and project planning to recommend and defend integrated operational improvements that balance cost, quality, and customer needs.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze supply chain and inventory performance using relevant KPIs to identify bottlenecks and recommend cost- and lead-time-focused improvements
• Apply quality management and process improvement methods (e.g., statistical quality control, lean, continuous improvement) to redesign products and processes and select appropriate metrics for monitoring
• Demonstrate development of a project plan that sequences operational changes, incorporates risk mitigation (including cybersecurity and automation concerns), and addresses common agile and planning pitfalls
• Evaluate technology and organizational options (e-commerce, computerized coordination, automation, employee engagement, customer-focus practices) and recommend integrated strategies aligned with business objectives
