Advanced Prompting and Production

This unit develops advanced prompt-engineering skills and production workflows for using ChatGPT across creative, educational, and professional contexts. Students learn to configure model parameters, convert real-world processes into repeatable prompts, and evaluate outputs for final delivery while accounting for contextual, ethical, and accessibility considerations.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze how prompt elements (temperature, weights, roles, vocabulary, positive/negative directions, and process instructions) affect output quality for varied tasks such as storytelling, journalism, tutoring, and video production
• Apply systematic prompting strategies to convert work processes into repeatable prompts and to render ChatGPT outputs into final forms suitable for post-production, publishing, or instructional use
• Demonstrate contextual and ethical awareness by choosing closed versus open-ended questioning, adapting prompts for healthcare, finance, and special education scenarios, and mitigating potential risks to privacy, accuracy, and accessibility
• Evaluate conversational and design choices (character roles, GPT Minis, emotional intelligence, and narrowing options) using data-driven criteria to iterate prompts and improve effectiveness for educators and stakeholders
