This unit introduces foundational skills for building web and mobile applications, including HTML/CSS structure, data listing, and an introductory web application build. Students will evaluate programming language families (Python, Ruby, JavaScript), select appropriate tools and research sources, and follow an app development process to define goals and prototype solutions.

- Analyze and compare characteristics of common programming languages and paradigms (e.g., Python, Ruby, JavaScript) to justify language selection for given project requirements
- Apply HTML and CSS structure to create and style a multi-section web interface that lists and displays data accurately
- Demonstrate the use of development tools, coding-reference websites, and debugging techniques to implement a basic web or mobile application prototype following a defined app development process
- Evaluate research sources, tool options, and project goals to produce a documented plan that identifies data structures, required technologies, and platform considerations (web vs. mobile)
