Security Awareness Program Design

This unit guides students through designing and planning effective security awareness and phishing programs that meet organizational, regulatory, and cultural needs. Learners will explore stakeholder engagement, gamification, communications, metrics, and business concerns to prepare for implementation and evaluation in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze organizational policies, regulatory compliance requirements, and approval processes to identify constraints and obligations for security awareness programs
• Apply behavior-change principles, gamification attributes, and communications strategies to design a phishing and awareness program with clear goals and expectations
• Evaluate stakeholder influence, cross-departmental partnerships, and business concerns to develop a management buy-in plan that integrates awareness into organizational culture
• Demonstrate selection and interpretation of engagement and phishing metrics (including Day 0 metrics) and recommend program adjustments addressing mobile/device security, social engineering risks, and scalability
