Windows Productivity, Security, and Troubleshooting

This capstone unit integrates advanced Windows skills, emphasizing troubleshooting, system recovery, privacy/security, accessibility, and productivity-enhancing tools including AI features. Students will apply configuration, maintenance, and problem-solving techniques to personalize and protect Windows environments and to create and manage content efficiently.

Learning Objectives

• Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve frozen applications, complete system freezes, app crashes, sign-in and password recovery issues, network credential prompts, and folder permission errors using built-in Windows tools and recovery options
• Apply Windows configuration and user-management skills to create and modify accounts, configure sign-in options (including Windows Hello), set AutoPlay and removable drive behavior, and adjust date/time, language, and accessibility settings for diverse user needs
• Analyze and configure privacy, security, and update settings to detect and respond to threats, control app and location permissions, manage privacy controls, and maintain system health with Windows Update and anti-malware responses
• Evaluate and employ AI-powered and productivity tools — such as image creation/editing, text-to-speech, AI writing and coding assistants, web/PDF summarization, shortcuts, and efficient file operations — to automate tasks and create content while assessing ethical and privacy implications
