Advanced WordPress Management

This unit focuses on extending, securing, optimizing, and administering WordPress sites using plugins, themes, and open-source tools. Students will configure performance and security measures, migrate and manage sites and networks, and evaluate e-commerce and plugin choices to prepare for real-world deployment and continued pathway study.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze plugins, themes, and third-party services for compatibility, licensing, performance, and security risks and produce a recommendation report comparing at least three options
• Apply WordPress performance and security best practices by configuring caching (e.g., WP Super Cache), Sucuri Security, XML sitemaps, and image/audio optimization to produce measurable improvements in site load time and security scan results
• Demonstrate site administration and content management tasks by migrating a site to a different host, managing a WordPress network, installing/uninstalling and configuring plugins, and enabling media features such as post thumbnails, embedded audio, and podcast feeds
• Evaluate e-commerce and community requirements by configuring WooCommerce/Storefront, implementing spam prevention and moderation strategies, and justifying choices between free and commercial plugins based on functionality, cost, and support
