This capstone unit focuses on finalizing, evaluating, and defending user-centered designs using timeless UX principles and practical methods to ensure best-in-class experiences. Students synthesize feedback, apply proven techniques to refine a final prototype, and prepare professional deliverables that justify design decisions and guide future iterations.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze usability test results and user feedback to identify and prioritize at least five high-impact design changes using established UX heuristics and the ten enduring UX principles
- Apply ten practical UX methods (including accessibility checks, responsive behavior, microcopy, onboarding, and error prevention) to implement and refine a final prototype that meets defined usability success criteria
- Demonstrate project completion and communication skills by producing a professional deliverable package (final prototype, design rationale, research summary) and presenting a stakeholder-facing justification of design decisions
- Evaluate the finalized product against a rubric based on user-centered criteria and UX principles, and produce a prioritized plan with at least three iterative improvements and a schedule for further testing
