BIM Implementation and Standards Integration

This unit focuses on applying BIM standards, information management, and collaborative workflows to create practical implementation plans. Students will learn to integrate BIM objects, specification tools, IoT data, health and safety requirements, and change-management strategies to prepare project-ready BIM execution and training plans that support successful deployment.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze international and key BIM standards and synthesize their requirements to develop a compliant BIM Execution Plan (BEP) for a sample project
• Apply digital information management and information-exchange protocols to produce an information exchange schedule and responsibility matrix that coordinates BIM objects, specifications, and IoT data across disciplines
• Evaluate BIM and specification tools, collaboration workflows, and risk/H&S considerations to select and justify an appropriate toolset and coordination approach for a given project scenario
• Demonstrate change-management and training strategies by creating a stakeholder engagement and implementation plan that supports standards adoption, on-site safety integration, and ongoing staff support
