This unit teaches students how to import, organize, and perform foundational edits on recorded footage using Filmora and HitFilm Express. Students will also learn capture workflows for webcam recordings and gameplay from PS4, Xbox One, and PC/Mac, preparing projects for more advanced post-production in the next unit.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze raw video and audio assets to determine appropriate file organization, formats, and import settings for a new Filmora project.
- Apply Filmora editing techniques — including importing media to a timeline, adding transitions, creating jump cuts, inserting titles, and recording voiceovers/webcam footage — to produce a coherent 3–6 minute edited sequence.
- Demonstrate capture workflows for recording gameplay from PS4, Xbox One, and PC/Mac and successfully import at least one gameplay clip into HitFilm Express for editing.
- Evaluate and perform basic edits in HitFilm Express (trimming, sequencing, and basic audio adjustments) to create a cohesive rough cut ready for advanced effects and final export.
