Podcast Launch, Growth, and Professionalism

This unit guides students through preparing, launching, and growing a podcast series with professional standards. Learners will finalize multiple publish-ready episodes, develop an audience engagement plan, refine guest and interview workflows, and apply ethical and legal practices for a sustainable podcast.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze genre conventions and audience expectations across comedy, gaming, slice-of-life, geek, and podcasting-about-podcasting formats to create a targeted series plan of five to ten initial episodes
• Apply audio and video environment control techniques, guest-audio standards, and interview preparation protocols to produce and document a set of publish-ready episodes meeting consistent quality benchmarks
• Demonstrate strategies for launching and sustaining audience engagement, including establishing a posting schedule, building community platforms (e.g., Discord), integrating voicemail, and responding constructively to feedback and negative comments
• Evaluate ethical and legal considerations—including music use/licensing, AI ethics, privacy, and guest consent—and incorporate appropriate policies into episode production and release workflows
