Ethical, Equitable AI Integration

This capstone unit focuses on responsible, equitable use of AI in teaching by addressing digital citizenship, misinformation and bias, privacy and access, and ongoing professional growth. Learners will synthesize ethical principles and practical strategies to refine AI-generated content, close achievement gaps, protect student data, and design a plan for continued competency development.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze case studies and classroom scenarios to identify digital citizenship challenges, misinformation, and bias introduced by AI tools, referencing ethical and legal considerations relevant to K-12 settings.
• Apply iterative refinement techniques and evidence-based strategies to evaluate and improve AI-generated instructional materials so they are accurate, culturally responsive, and aligned to diverse learners to reduce achievement gaps.
• Evaluate district and classroom policies, technologies, and resource-allocation strategies to propose solutions that address the digital divide, ensure equitable access, and protect student privacy and data security.
• Demonstrate a personalized professional development plan that leverages AI tools and competency frameworks for continuous adaptation, assessment of effectiveness, and growth in essential AI-related educator skills.
