AI-Assisted Investment Decision Making

This capstone unit synthesizes investment concepts and AI tool use to vet resources, manage risk, and document decisions. Students learn to evaluate ETFs, real estate investments, savings bonds, and AI platforms while applying tax, inflation, privacy, and regulatory considerations to create audit-ready, AI-assisted investment plans.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and compare ETFs, mutual funds, real estate ETFs, and savings bonds for fees, inflation sensitivity, tax implications, and historical performance and produce a cited comparative report using government and brokerage sources
• Evaluate AI-driven investment tools, robo-advisors, and finance-specific generative AI resources by testing prompts, assessing privacy controls, bias and faulty predictions, and rating each tool against a defined rubric with a written justification for selection
• Apply risk-management and diversification strategies—including loss-limiting rules, allocation to hard assets, and tax-aware adjustments—to construct a simulated portfolio and explain trade-offs under differing economic and political scenarios
• Demonstrate professional documentation and compliance practices by maintaining a paper trail, performing document analysis, obtaining second opinions from vetted agencies or user groups, and producing an audit-ready summary that addresses privacy and multilingual prompt considerations
