This unit orients students to the CPA profession and the CPA Exam by covering the designation’s responsibilities, exam content and format, prerequisites, application procedures, and foundational technical domains. It emphasizes developing a study schedule, effective test-taking mindset and strategies, and a diagnostic review of accounting, auditing, tax, and information-systems topics to prepare for deeper technical units that follow.

• Analyze the roles, responsibilities, and ethical obligations associated with the CPA designation, including confidentiality and professional conduct, to determine expectations for practice and exam content relevance
• Apply CPA Exam prerequisites, registration and application steps, and the exam format/timelines to produce a compliant plan and schedule for sitting for the exam
• Demonstrate effective study and test-taking strategies by creating an overall study schedule, time-management plan, and multiple-choice approach to improve readiness across exam sections
