AI-Enhanced Operations and Equity

This unit examines human resources, volunteer management, training, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices alongside the current and emerging uses of AI and data analytics in the nonprofit sector. Learners will apply generative AI and data-driven approaches to fundraising, program planning, and grant development while addressing ethical, bias, transparency, and trust issues through real-world case studies and implementation planning.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze existing human resources, volunteer management, training, and DEI practices to identify gaps and propose integrated improvements aligned with nonprofit mission and stakeholder needs.
• Apply generative AI and data-analysis methods to produce an AI-augmented deliverable (e.g., fundraising campaign outline, grant application draft, or program plan) that demonstrates measurable gains in efficiency or insight.
• Evaluate ethical, bias-related, transparency, and trust implications of deploying AI in nonprofit contexts and develop a mitigation and governance plan that includes accountability measures and stakeholder communication strategies.
• Demonstrate synthesis of case study learnings by creating a practical implementation roadmap with clear impact indicators, timelines, and resource/training needs for responsible AI integration into nonprofit operations.
