Deploying and Sustaining Lean Six Sigma

This unit focuses on moving from individual projects to a repeatable, sustainable Lean Six Sigma program. Students learn to select and launch DMAIC projects, implement and control solutions, measure final benefits, and plan training, governance, and knowledge‑sharing to scale continuous improvement in metals manufacturing.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze completed DMAIC projects and conduct a final benefit review using quantitative financial and operational metrics to confirm customer and business outcomes
• Apply control‑plan tools, one‑page summaries, and process monitoring techniques to implement solutions and sustain process improvements
• Evaluate organizational readiness and prioritize candidate improvement projects by assessing sponsor roles, resource requirements, and whether Lean Six Sigma is the appropriate approach
• Demonstrate the ability to design a Lean Six Sigma deployment plan that includes training/consulting strategies, stakeholder engagement (networks, conferences, publications), software tools, and a roadmap for long‑term strategy deployment
