Simultaneity and Templosion

This unit explores how simultaneous (synchronous and asynchronous) work across time zones and the rapid proliferation of reusable digital templates (‘templosion’) reshape small business operations and entrepreneurial opportunities. Students will practice coordinating time-sensitive workflows, inventing and adapting templates, and turning templated systems into marketable solutions while preparing for deeper business model development in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the advantages and challenges of synchronous versus asynchronous work models for distributed teams by comparing at least two real-world scenarios and their impact on productivity and customer experience
• Apply time-management and collaboration strategies, including digital tools and scheduling techniques, to design a coordinated workflow that manages simultaneous tasks across multiple time zones
• Demonstrate the creation and adaptation of reusable business templates (e.g., proposals, processes, marketing assets) by producing two brand-consistent templates and documentation for user customization
• Evaluate potential business opportunities and revenue models arising from templated offerings by developing a brief go-to-market plan that addresses differentiation, scalability, and ethical or quality-control considerations
