Leadership, Communication, and Productivity

This unit develops applied leadership, communication, negotiation, and productivity skills needed for entry-level managers and professional contributors. Students practice conflict resolution, project and time management, persuasive written and oral communication, virtual leadership, and mindful professional decision-making to prepare for a culminating performance task in Unit 4.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze team dynamics and cultural factors to recommend conflict-resolution strategies, set standards of excellence, and establish professional boundaries that improve team performance.
• Apply time-management and project-management techniques to produce a documented project plan with prioritized tasks, blocked schedules, meeting agendas, and progress-assessment checkpoints.
• Demonstrate professional written and oral communication by composing reader-friendly messages and emails, delivering concise openings and conclusions, adapting tone for audience and virtual contexts, and eliminating jargon.
• Evaluate negotiation scenarios and conduct negotiation simulations that set opening offers, respond to unacceptable proposals, document assumptions, and close agreements while employing ethical and mindful practices.
