This unit introduces foundational C# language constructs and the .NET platform, covering data types, control flow, collections, and core APIs for I/O, networking, and data access. Learners will also explore object-oriented design, error handling, basic security considerations, and introductory UI/project templates (WPF, UWP, ASP.NET) to prepare for more advanced application and system development in subsequent units.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate C# and .NET fundamentals by creating, compiling, and running console applications that declare and manipulate variables, primitive and reference types (including strings and enums), arrays, perform arithmetic, and implement control flow structures (if, switch, loops).
- Apply object-oriented principles to design and implement classes, methods, access modifiers, structures, inheritance, method overloading, interfaces/delegates, and generics to build modular, reusable code and pass objects between methods.
- Analyze and implement common .NET libraries and runtime services by using System.IO (file streams), System.Data, System.Net, exception handling, and basic versioning practices to manage data, errors, and compatibility.
- Evaluate basic application models and UI frameworks by selecting appropriate project templates and demonstrating simple UI layout, dependency properties, commands, and designer tools in WPF/UWP/ASP.NET to prepare for advanced application development.
