This unit introduces the practical and technical foundations of building websites, including project planning, domain/hosting selection, content preparation, visual design principles, and introductory HTML5. Students will learn to plan and prototype responsive sites, organize assets in Dreamweaver CS6, and produce basic mobile-friendly web pages to prepare for deeper styling, scripting, and deployment in subsequent units.

- Analyze client goals, target audiences, technical constraints, and available resources to define project requirements and a site development plan
- Apply domain registration and web-hosting selection procedures to secure a domain, configure hosting, and establish a site root for development
- Demonstrate creation of wireframes, storyboards, content inventories, and color schemes that support mobile-first, accessible page designs
- Develop and publish basic responsive HTML5 pages and organize site assets in Dreamweaver CS6, testing functionality across devices
