Windows 11 Maintenance and Security

This unit develops intermediate skills for managing files, apps, devices, backups, and security in Windows 11 while introducing AI-driven productivity features. Students will practice troubleshooting, recovery, and safe configuration of system and cloud resources to prepare for advanced administration topics.

Learning Objectives

• Demonstrate file and storage management by organizing local files, using removable media and OneDrive, locating lost files, configuring file associations, and restoring data with File History and recovery drives
• Apply troubleshooting and maintenance techniques to manage apps and drivers, repair or remove broken applications, adjust app defaults and taskbar behavior, and safely use third‑party utilities
• Analyze security and privacy risks by identifying phishing attempts, evaluating User Account Control prompts, configuring passwords and parental controls, and securing remote access to Windows devices
• Evaluate and utilize built‑in AI and accessibility tools—such as Copilot, image editing and resizing, translation, AI summarization, virtual desktops, and Microsoft Store resources—to improve productivity and determine when third‑party solutions are required
