Foundations of Copilot Studio

This unit introduces generative AI fundamentals and Microsoft’s Copilot ecosystem, including the OpenAI partnership, M365 Copilot, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Learners will explore Copilot Studio’s audience, platform components, prerequisites, and create a first basic agent with defined actions to prepare for deeper development in subsequent units.

• Analyze core generative AI concepts and the strategic relationship between Microsoft and OpenAI by summarizing key capabilities, use cases, and implications for digital technology projects.
• Demonstrate the principles of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) by designing and testing a simple retrieval workflow that shows how contextual data improves model responses.
• Apply Copilot Studio platform knowledge to identify target audiences, platform prerequisites, and portfolio components, and align a Copilot persona to a specified company persona or business need.
• Create and configure a basic Copilot Studio agent by defining actions and behaviors, performing interactive tests, and documenting setup steps to prepare for advanced agent development.
