Implementing DevOps Practices

This unit guides learners from foundational DevOps concepts toward practical adoption, combining cultural change with technical practices that enable continuous delivery and resilient systems. Students will practice stakeholder persuasion, design systems for operability and error tolerance, and implement automated testing and CI/CD workflows while preparing for deeper automation and security topics in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze organizational readiness and the adoption curve to develop a stakeholder persuasion plan and set of DevOps values that support culture change and cross-functional collaboration
• Apply design principles to architect code and APIs for maintainability, testability, and the Six Capabilities of DevOps, including shifting infrastructure concerns left into development
• Demonstrate implementation of automated testing strategies and continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines across differing environments to increase velocity and establish reliable feedback loops
• Evaluate operational practices — including incident response, on-call rotation design, hiring/motivation approaches, and cloud deployment models — and propose improvements that enhance reliability and team wellbeing
