This unit advances full‑stack skills by combining server‑side PHP and MySQL techniques with client‑side JavaScript, DOM/CSS enhancements, and integration patterns (MVC, microframeworks, WordPress/plugins). Students will build, integrate, and test interactive, responsive web applications that include session management, AJAX data transfer, form validation, and deployable components, preparing them for capstone projects or further study in web and software development.

Learning Objectives

Analyze and modify PHP codebases to implement server‑side features (extending classes, operators, event‑driven code, date/time, file and image handling) and add functionality such as shopping cart and session/logout management.
Apply client‑side JavaScript, DOM manipulation, HTML5 form validation, CSS styling (positioning, shadows, fonts) and media queries to create responsive, accessible, and interactive user interfaces with animations and dynamic updates.
Demonstrate integration techniques by implementing AJAX data transfer, adopting an MVC or microframework pattern, and integrating or developing WordPress plugins/widgets to extend application functionality.
Evaluate and test web applications for correctness, security, and usability by producing and executing a test plan (including functional tests, validation checks, session/logout flows), documenting defects, and applying fixes.
