Instructional Design: Development & Delivery

This unit develops practical skills for designing, prototyping, and preparing instruction for implementation across delivery modes. Learners apply instructional models (e.g., Gagné, ADDIE, Mayer SOI), perform learner analyses, align objectives and assessments, select media/technology, and plan for evaluation and barriers to implementation.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze learner characteristics, contextual constraints, and instructional goals to select appropriate delivery modes (self‑paced, group, blended, or higher‑education formats) and media/technology.
• Apply Gagné’s Nine Events, the ADDIE process, Mayer’s SOI model, and the RIPPLES planning framework to design and prototype a coherent instructional module aligned to measurable objectives and real‑world tasks.
• Demonstrate the ability to link action‑verb‑based learning objectives to formative and summative assessments and map those assessments to levels of evaluation for continuous improvement.
• Evaluate potential implementation barriers and produce a mitigation‑focused implementation plan with timelines, responsibilities, evaluation metrics, and criteria for revision.
