AI Impacts, Risks, and Futures

This capstone unit synthesizes how artificial intelligence is changing business functions, clarifies what constitutes AI (and what does not), explains relevant jargon and history, and surfaces ethical, operational, and strategic concerns. Students will use provided source appendices to evaluate current trends and develop practical recommendations for business decision-makers.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze how artificial intelligence is transforming at least three core business functions (e.g., marketing, finance, operations) and produce a concise summary of changes to processes and role responsibilities
• Differentiate between AI and non-AI systems by applying course definitions and terminology to classify a set of provided tools and justify each classification with evidence from the appendices
• Evaluate ethical, legal, and operational risks associated with adopting AI solutions and develop a mitigation plan that includes at least three actionable strategies aligned to compliance and continuity
• Demonstrate the ability to synthesize appendix source materials to produce a 2–3 year forecast of likely AI developments and recommend three prioritized actions for business leaders
