Building and Deploying Generative AI

This unit focuses on practical application of generative AI: designing user-centered experiences, engineering prompts and models, building conversational agents, and integrating AI into real-world workflows and platforms. Students will learn tooling and deployment practices while addressing accessibility, ethics, misinformation, and evaluation to prepare for advanced implementation and specialization in the final unit.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze user needs, accessibility requirements, and UX trade-offs to design at least two AI-enhanced solutions (e.g., tutoring, localization, multimedia) that improve measurable user outcomes
• Apply prompt engineering techniques, model selection (including temperature and built-in prompts), and platform tooling (OpenAI Platform, Replit, Copilot) to generate, refine, and evaluate outputs for tasks such as summarization, code generation, and translation
• Demonstrate the ability to construct, lint, test, and publish a conversational AI chatbot or agent by blending manually written and AI-generated code, integrating plugins, and completing a deployment workflow
• Evaluate ethical, data-integrity, and misinformation risks, as well as SEO and marketing implications, and propose mitigation or governance strategies for at least two deployed AI applications
