This unit introduces core programming concepts and practical web development skills across multiple languages and environments. Students will learn to create responsive HTML/CSS pages, write and test JavaScript, explore Dart/Flutter project setup, and perform basic Python data handling to prepare for building interactive applications in subsequent units.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate foundational programming constructs by writing and debugging code that uses variables, lists, conditional logic, functions, and basic classes in JavaScript, Dart, and Python.
- Apply web development techniques to create and display responsive HTML and CSS pages (including Bootstrap), testing layouts and styling across desktop and mobile devices.
- Analyze browser-centric behavior by manipulating the DOM, handling events and forms, implementing callbacks, and making asynchronous requests (AJAX) to update page content.
- Evaluate basic data workflows using Python and Anaconda by importing and sampling datasets with NumPy and pandas, selecting appropriate graphs, and summarizing findings for use in applications.
