This unit builds on foundational animal and plant science skills to teach responsible byproduct and waste handling, value‑adding, and community engagement strategies for small-scale and hobby farms. Students will learn to convert animal and plant byproducts into saleable products, manage oils/chemicals/metals safely, and plan and deliver outreach and marketing activities (fairs, markets, tours, presentations) while using resources to address common rural myths and pursue further certification or agribusiness opportunities.
