Exam and Field Readiness

This capstone unit consolidates test-taking strategies, physical and technical skills, professional behaviors, and screening readiness required for the North Carolina police officer selection process. It prepares students to perform on written and practical exams, interviews, and evaluations and to transition into the Field Training Program.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze common law enforcement examination question types and test-taking strategies to identify individualized areas for improvement across practice math, situational judgment, and written-response items
• Apply stress-management techniques, physical conditioning plans, and safety protocols to achieve required performance standards on the Physical Ability Test, firearms exercises, and Emergency Vehicle Operations Training simulations
• Demonstrate professional communication, ethical decision-making, and interpersonal skills during oral board interviews, human-relations scenarios, and language tasks using established rubrics
• Evaluate medical, psychological, and screening procedures, interpret elimination and remediation options, and develop a personalized action plan to transition into and succeed in the Field Training Program
