GenAI Content Creation and Oversight

This unit advances students’ practical prompt-engineering skills and editorial workflows for producing written and multimedia outputs with generative AI. Students will practice crafting and refining prompts for varied formats, apply human-in-the-loop quality control and ethical review, and prepare to specialize and deploy GenAI tools in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze prompt structures and failure modes (including quirks like the “finger problem”) across genres to identify how prompt design affects outputs for white papers, blog posts, news articles, and storyboards
• Apply prompt-engineering techniques to create, tailor, and iterate prompts for specialized topics, mini-GPTs, multi-personality perspectives, and multimedia content, producing usable outlines, short articles, and storyboards
• Demonstrate human-in-the-loop quality-control workflows—fact-checking, editorial revision, and reward/punishment strategies—to validate and improve the accuracy, coherence, and creativity of AI-generated content
• Evaluate ethical, legal, and safety risks (including journalism ethics and content hazards) associated with GenAI outputs and propose concrete mitigation, documentation, and responsible-use practices
