This unit develops client- and server-side skills to add interactivity, data collection, and dynamic content to websites. Students will author JavaScript-driven interfaces, handle form data with PHP, consume live data sources, and integrate a WordPress blog while using Dreamweaver tools where appropriate.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze user experience and technical requirements to design interactive web features and select appropriate client-side solutions (e.g., JavaScript animations or Flash alternatives).
- Apply JavaScript techniques — including DOM manipulation, event handling, animation, and generated code — and integrate scripts using Dreamweaver to implement interactive site components.
- Demonstrate creation and management of HTML forms by implementing client-side validation and server-side processing with PHP, including secure data handling workflows (validation, sanitization, email, or storage).
- Evaluate and integrate dynamic external content by consuming APIs, RSS, or JSON feeds and adding a WordPress blog to publish and manage live site content while ensuring compatibility with interactive features.
