This unit builds on foundational logistics concepts to focus on operating, protecting, and adapting global supply chains under real-world stresses. Students will study cross-cultural workforce issues, humanitarian and disaster-relief (H&DR) operations, security and compliance, shipping/receiving and returns, sustainability, and case-study lessons to prepare for advanced strategy and execution in the final unit.

- Analyze cultural, social, and political factors to adapt global logistics operations, including staffing, local labor provisions, and communications strategies for diverse regions
- Apply risk management and crisis-response protocols for global and H&DR scenarios by developing cargo screening, security (including counter-espionage) and emergency team preparation plans
- Demonstrate compliant shipping, receiving, documentation, permit/licensing, freight-forwarding, and returns/damage-handling procedures for international transactions
