Operational Resilience & Response

This unit focuses on strengthening organizational resilience through risk management, backup and recovery, compliance, and day-to-day security operations. Students will practice assessment and response techniques, implement controls for devices and data, and prepare documentation and reports that align with regulatory and insurance requirements to bridge foundational cybersecurity knowledge with advanced defensive practices.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze threats, vulnerabilities, and asset criticality to develop a prioritized risk management plan that documents mitigation, acceptance, transfer (insurance), and recovery strategies for at least three asset classes
• Apply backup and restoration methodologies (full, incremental, and crypto-specific) and validate recovery by performing and documenting at least two restoration exercises that meet defined RTO/RPO targets
• Evaluate regulatory, compliance, and key-management requirements and implement appropriate controls (including KMS and CSPM practices), producing sample compliance artifacts and a report demonstrating alignment with applicable standards
• Demonstrate security assessment and incident-response capabilities by performing vulnerability/port discovery and a controlled attack simulation, executing a recovery plan, and designing a measurable user-awareness program to reduce social-engineering risk
