AI Tools for Instruction and Operations

This unit examines how AI can streamline classroom operations, enhance assessment and feedback, and personalize learning experiences while supporting student executive function and social-emotional learning. It also addresses engagement strategies (gamification, debates) and responsible, ethical adoption of AI to prepare learners for applied implementation in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze classroom workflows to identify at least three AI tools or integrations that can streamline communication, scheduling, paperwork, and recordkeeping while accounting for privacy and accessibility constraints
• Apply AI-enhanced feedback and grading strategies by designing a rubric-driven workflow that uses automated and human-in-the-loop tools to increase feedback specificity and reduce turnaround time
• Demonstrate the design of a personalized learning pathway that incorporates intelligent tutoring systems, gamification elements, and supports for executive functioning and social-emotional learning for a given instructional standard
• Evaluate ethical, legal, and equity implications of proposed AI tool adoption and produce a responsible-use plan that addresses data privacy, bias mitigation, informed consent, and classroom digital citizenship
