Implementation and Professional Practice

This unit guides learners from design into practice by applying instructional design decisions to real-world delivery contexts (schools, health sciences, and informal institutions). Learners will select delivery modalities, design activities for transfer and inclusion, plan technology and support, and prepare professional artifacts and competencies for entry-level instructional design roles.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze multiple instructional delivery options (synchronous, asynchronous, blended, and in-person) for a given learning scenario and justify the choice based on learner needs, context, feedback requirements, and course duration
• Design a 2–3 session instructional module that includes scaffolded activities of appropriate complexity, collaboration and learning-by-doing opportunities, two concrete deliverables, and an implementation debrief checklist
• Evaluate technology delivery choices and produce an accessibility and tech-support plan that ensures inclusion, addresses assistive technologies, and identifies contingency procedures
• Demonstrate career readiness by assembling a professional portfolio with work samples, a competency-aligned resume, and an action plan for networking and ongoing professional growth
