This unit develops intermediate-to-advanced C# skills for data access, user interfaces, and application design. Students implement file, stream, network, and database I/O; build WPF/UWP apps with XAML data binding and commands; and apply advanced language/runtime and object-oriented patterns to create modular, testable components that prepare them for API integration and deployment in the final unit.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze and troubleshoot file, stream, network, and database input/output by implementing StreamReader, System.Net, System.Data, and reader/writer APIs to parse, validate, and handle real-world data sources.
- Apply advanced C# language and runtime features—including dynamic/DLR, local functions, ref/out, target typing, nullable and reference structures—to refactor code for correctness, readability, and performance.
- Demonstrate the ability to design and implement responsive desktop and UWP user interfaces using XAML and WPF controls, data binding, custom and routed commands, and client-side validation to connect UI with backend logic.
- Evaluate and modularize application architecture by creating classes, interfaces, class libraries, and inheritance patterns, handling exceptions and null parameters, and configuring .NET Core projects for reuse and deployment.
