Object-Oriented Programming and I/O

This unit expands foundational Java skills into core object-oriented programming concepts, data management, and basic user interaction. Students learn to design and implement classes, interfaces, collections, file I/O, event handling, and GUI table population while practicing debugging and program design principles to prepare for more advanced application development.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and trace program execution through methods, constructors, static members, and subclass relationships to predict outputs and state changes
• Apply object-oriented design to implement classes, interfaces, arrays of objects, and collection classes to model, store, and manipulate application data
• Demonstrate file input/output and event-driven programming by building programs that read and write disk files and update GUI components such as tables in response to events
• Evaluate and debug programs using conditional expressions, logical operators, variable scope, and parameter passing to ensure correct behavior and data integrity
