Advanced C++ Tools and Templates

This unit develops advanced C++ programming skills focused on templates, modern resource management, language features, and tooling. Students will combine template design, smart pointers, STL and Boost libraries, and build/documentation tools to create robust, reusable C++ components and applications.

Learning Objectives

• Apply template programming techniques to design, implement, and test reusable function and class templates, including template specialization and template libraries
• Demonstrate effective memory and resource management by using smart pointers, dynamic arrays, RAII patterns, and techniques to eliminate side effects
• Analyze and implement control flow and data-manipulation constructs (for/while/do-while loops, nested loops, switch, enums, arrays, pointers, ranges, lambdas) to solve algorithmic problems and process input/output
• Integrate C++ standard library and Boost tools (filesystem, random, Build/QuickBook/Wave/bcp) to access OS services, generate random data, document libraries, and build/distribute C++ components
