Dynamic Web Application Development

This unit guides learners through building interactive, styled web interfaces and integrating them with server-side PHP and MySQL to create dynamic applications. Students will combine client-side JavaScript/jQuery (DOM, events, AJAX) with PHP functions, classes, sessions, and secure database practices while exploring MVC concepts and application scaffolding to prepare for capstone development.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze client-side behavior by locating DOM elements, handling events, debugging JavaScript errors, and tracing program flow to diagnose and fix interaction issues
• Apply HTML5 and CSS3 techniques (box model, forms, text areas, color systems, gradients, table and dropdown styling) to build accessible, responsive user interfaces
• Demonstrate server-side development using PHP by creating and using variables, functions, classes, sessions, and advanced MySQL operations (CRUD, prepared statements, indexing) to persist and manage application data
• Evaluate and implement secure client-server integration using jQuery AJAX, MVC patterns, PHP frameworks, scaffolding techniques, and data-safety practices (input validation, escaping, session protection) to produce maintainable, secure applications
