Advanced Workplace Communication Strategies

This capstone unit synthesizes advanced communication strategies for modern office environments, emphasizing virtual team dynamics, persuasive presentations, and inclusive, transparent practices. Students apply analytics, conduct communication audits, and use visual/storytelling techniques, engagement tools, and rehearsal frameworks to design and lead effective workplace communications.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze findings from a communication audit and predictive analytics to identify at least three communication gaps and produce an evidence-based action plan to address them in virtual and in-person team contexts
• Apply storytelling, visual design (charts, infographics), and the RER framework to design and deliver a 10-minute multimedia presentation—supported by a producer—that meets rubric criteria for clarity, engagement, and confidence
• Demonstrate inclusive and accessible communication by revising an email, meeting agenda, and slide deck to remove jargon/acronyms, incorporate DEI considerations, and specify synchronous/asynchronous protocols using a provided checklist
• Evaluate and implement engagement techniques (polls, whiteboards, gamification, voluntelling) in a facilitation plan and measure participant engagement and timeliness improvements in a simulated meeting scenario
