Culinary Careers and Entrepreneurship

This unit prepares students to enter, advance, or create opportunities within the culinary industry by focusing on job search skills, career mobility, entrepreneurship, and workplace success strategies. Students will synthesize prior technical and safety learning into actionable plans for launching or growing a culinary career.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze at least three real culinary job postings to identify common qualifications, responsibilities, and employer priorities, then produce a targeted resume and one-page cover letter aligned to one selected posting
• Apply interview, networking, and professional presentation techniques in a mock interview scenario and document three strategies to incorporate into a personal job-seeking plan
• Demonstrate entrepreneurial readiness by developing a one-page business concept that includes concept description, target market, basic start-up cost estimates, and a checklist of required legal/operational steps
• Evaluate personal workplace practices and resilience strategies by creating a professional development plan that incorporates ten industry best-practice tips and establishes three SMART goals for the next 12–24 months
