Governance and Secure Hosting for Azure AI

This unit introduces enterprise governance, shared responsibility, and regulatory frameworks for deploying generative AI, and compares hosting models to inform security decisions. Students will learn how to select and evaluate security controls (including using the Microsoft Cloud Security Benchmark) and apply Azure Policy to secure Azure OpenAI at scale, preparing them for hands-on configuration and incident response in later units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze common enterprise use cases for generative AI and identify associated security, privacy, and compliance risks
• Evaluate and compare OpenAI hosting models (including Azure OpenAI and third-party/self-hosted options) based on control, data residency, and regulatory requirements
• Apply the shared responsibility model and relevant regulatory/control frameworks to map required security controls to enterprise scenarios using the Microsoft Cloud Security Benchmark (MCSB)
• Demonstrate creation and enforcement of Azure Policy definitions to secure Azure OpenAI deployments at scale
