Planning and Launching Digital Nomad Life

This unit guides learners through planning, launching, and testing a sustainable digital nomad lifestyle. Students evaluate destinations and visa options, create budgets and housing plans, arrange healthcare and essential services, and prepare professional and personal affairs for a remote transition.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and compare at least three international destinations (including visa requirements, healthcare systems, housing options, and cost-of-living) to select an appropriate location and timing for a remote work stay
• Apply budgeting and logistics skills to produce a 3-month launch plan that includes housing reservations, essential services setup, insurance selection, and arrangements for dependents or shipping/storing possessions
• Demonstrate the ability to establish remote-work operations by designing a new or adapted job role, coordinating collaboration and communication protocols for remote teams, and sourcing contractors or virtual assistants
• Evaluate personal readiness and stakeholder impacts by preparing legal and financial affairs, communicating plans to family/employers, and conducting a short-term remote work trial to assess work-life balance and travel pace
