PowerPoint Foundations and Design

This unit introduces learners to Microsoft PowerPoint fundamentals, the Backstage interface, and Copilot-assisted workflows while establishing core design and delivery practices. Students will build, format, and enhance presentations using themes, masters, multimedia, charts, SmartArt, transitions/animations, and file management/collaboration tools in preparation for more advanced production and customization in later units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the PowerPoint interface, Backstage view, and Copilot features to select efficient workflows and settings for creating presentations
• Apply design principles by using themes, templates, slide masters, text formatting, and layout tools to produce consistent, audience-focused slides
• Demonstrate the ability to insert, format, and manage multimedia and data visuals—including pictures, charts, SmartArt, tables, audio, and video—and employ drawing tools as needed
• Evaluate collaboration, saving, and export options (including version control, PDF creation, and Copilot assistance) to prepare presentations for sharing and delivery
