Preparing for Infinite Data and Trivergence

This unit explores the emergence of pervasive, ‘infinite’ data streams and the sociotechnical shifts—such as self‑sovereign identity and decentralization—that accompany them. Students examine domain impacts (healthcare, agriculture, transportation), assess technological and social challenges, and prepare strategic responses that bridge prior foundational skills and the applied work of Unit 4.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the implications of infinite data for privacy, security, and data governance by identifying and explaining at least three industry-specific use cases in healthcare, agriculture, and transportation
• Evaluate self-sovereign identity and decentralized ownership models by comparing at least two technical architectures and recommending appropriate governance approaches for different stakeholder scenarios
• Apply Trivergence principles (integration of pervasive sensing, AI analytics, and decentralized architectures) to design and present a stakeholder-ready proposal addressing a specific challenge in healthcare, agriculture, or transportation
• Demonstrate strategies to mitigate technological and social challenges—including scalability, bias, governance, and digital equity—by producing an implementation roadmap with a risk assessment and policy recommendations
